Competition entry for the replacement of the existing ice hockey arena in Bruneck, South Tyrol.
The program required a closed indoor rink for 3,000 spectators, an outdoor covered rink for public use and training, as well as offices for the hockey club, lounge and bar areas, locker rooms, staff facilities, and other ancillary spaces.
The proposal is guided by urban planning principles, conceiving the arena as part of a wider spatial and social network rather than a stand-alone sports facility. The project develops a clear sequence of public spaces, including a welcoming entrance plaza that becomes a central element of the concept. A series of open and covered plazas, together with the distribution of internal functions, form the basis of the architectural idea, ensuring that the building responds to both functional relationships and its surrounding urban context.
