025 Kulturzentrum Schloss Weissenbrunn

Weissenbrunn, Germany

A cultural project in Bavaria, South Germany, transforming an existing castle ensemble into a contemporary destination for music and cultural activities.

The project is located in Bavaria, South Germany, and builds on the historic role of the existing castle as a cultural landmark. The proposal respects the architectural ensemble around the palace forecourt while reinterpreting traditional elements such as pitched roofs and the use of local materials through a contemporary architectural language.

An existing barn is transformed into a new concert hall that opens toward a redesigned public square, strengthening the relationship between interior space and the surrounding landscape. The intervention brings natural light and expansive views into the building, reinforcing its public and civic character.

The concert hall is conceived as a flexible and multifunctional venue. Retractable seating and a height-adjustable stage allow for different spatial configurations and event formats. A double-glazed façade incorporates an integrated blackout curtain, which can be closed during orchestral performances to ensure optimal acoustic and visual conditions.
