Located in Barra de Navidad, Jalisco, Mexico, this transformation of a 1960s house near the beach offers a modern interpretation of coastal living
The two-story volume is carved by three atriums, with a double-height entry space and generous floor-to-ceiling openings on the west façade.
On the ground floor, the living, dining and kitchen spaces flow outward, along with guest rooms and two bathrooms. Upstairs are two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a large terrace facing the sea. A private balcony off the master bedroom overlooks a secluded courtyard.
Sliding aluminium-shuttered doors on the main façade maximise daylight and allow full closure for sun shading and security. The entire façade — and parts of the courtyard — are clad in custom-made tiles inspired by traditional Mexican patterns, giving the home a layered, local identity embedded in contemporary design.
