The competition brief asked for the design of a new icehockey Arena in Bruneck, Alto Adige.The existing stadium was to small / old and should be replaced with a new structure.

The main program asked the accommodation of 1 internal closed icehockey field for 3.000 spectators, 1 external roofed field for public use / training as well as offices for the hockey club, bar and lounge areas, locker rooms, staff etc.

The design is influenced by urban planning principles . All design decisions are subject to urban imaginary spatial sequences , which includes an “entrance plaza” as an important part of the overall concept . Different “plazas” in its various forms ( open , roofed) are to be mentioned here as well as the arrangement of the various functions . The design concept is not only to hand the solution of functional relationships but reflects the impact of the surrounding space.
